What’s a Reverse Ride-Along?

Our Reverse Ride Along reimagines the traditional ride along in which citizens can go on a ride with police to gain a better understanding of their work. We do the reverse. We take police on rides with us to see neighborhoods through community members eyes. The name just stuck, because the experience is designed to help people see things from reverse perspectives.

Each Reverse Ride Along takes place over a period of 4-9 hours. During which time, we visit various spots throughout the city where there is guided dialogue, and interactive experiences designed to build empathy and understanding across lines of difference.

After seeing the benefits of each RRA, we decided to also offer the experience to other social service providers including doctors, nurses, educators, funders etc.

At the heart of our mission is the belief that strong communities are built on solid relationships. By fostering shared experiences and authentic conversations that move beyond stereotypes, RRA reduces fear and mistrust, opening the door to more inclusive and human-centered systems of care and service.
